Here it is April 21, 2020, we should have played our first 4 events and here we are cancelling the rest of April’s events and the first few in May. Reino and I got together the other day, did some discussing on when will we be able to get out as a Group and we could not come up with an answer. I have talked to Mark Holm, Golf Pro Detroit Lakes Country Club, the other day and his concerns have to do with what the State of Minnesota will allow on the courses. All golfers will have to abide by those rules for the Golf Courses to stay open, Mark said some courses were shut down because they failed to follow the rules. Tee times will be every 15 minutes, one per cart, no groups bigger than 10, no Shotgun Starts as we would have to ALL check in, more than 10, in order to make that work. George Cook checked with Hawley and they were not interested in doing any Group Events until things change. If they do not change the one golfer per cart, most courses will not have enough Golf Carts to accommodate a full 144 golfers, so we might have to drop to 72 per 18 hole courses and 36 per 9 hole courses. Those are the options we have looked at this time.
Another consideration is how to handle paying for each event, as I read today that the Golf Courses will not be accepting cash/checks, just credit/debit cards only. Reino is looking into some sort of system, Square Inc, where the golfers that sign up for an event can Prepay by Credit/Debit Card or check. If you send in or charge on your card a $100, we will Bank it and then just subtract the fees from that amount in your Banked Account after each event you play. We are looking into maybe getting a Square, Inc payment system set up to handle the credit/debit cards, which would add some additional costs to each time you use that system so we would have to add those charges to each time it was used. None of this will matter until the Golf Courses are allowed to have Group Events again, so we will just have to be patient.
