MAY 2, 2020 NEWSLETTER

The Board of Directors got together the other day along with Dick Anderson and a couple of other members to discuss how we can get out on the Golf Courses, while following the rules set down in the respective States.  I guess we came up with a couple of things that we feel is necessary to make it as safe as possible on the courses once we start playing.

  1.  We will have to cut the total number of Golfers per event in half, so 72 for an 18 hole course and 36 for a 9 Hole course.  The Golf Courses DO NOT want large groups gathering at one time so please adhere to the Guidelines we set down.  These numbers could change if Social distancing is relaxed.
  2. We will allow members to OPT OUT for this Golf Season and their dues they paid will be dues for next year 2021. This must be done by June 15, 2020. IF YOU PLAY BEFORE JUNE 15TH YOU CANNOT OPT OUT. If you OPT OUT, you will not be able to sign up for any of the events we play this year.  We will allow you to OPT BACK IN, but then your dues for 2020 will be used and dues for 2021 will be due by the end of the Golf Season like normal. TO OPT OUT SEND US AN EMAIL BY GOING TO THE TAB ON THE FIRST PAGE OF OUR WEB SITE AND CLICK ON “CONTACT US” AND TELL US YOUR PLAYER NUMBER, FULL NAME AND THAT YOU WANT TO OPT OUT. IF LATER ON YOU WANT TO OPT BACK IN YOU DO THE SAME AND JUST TELL US YOU WANT TO OPT BACK IN. If you opt out we will reassign your player number. As an example if your current number is 45 your new number will be 1045 and when you opt back in or for the 2021 golf year you will go back to 45.
  3. We will not have the minimum 5 rounds played rule this year in order to keep your membership, being we have cut the number of golfers per event in half.
  4. We are looking at using Tee Times if the Golf Course will not let us use a Shotgun Start.  Tee times would start at 8:30 and be every 10 minutes until we have all 72 golfers playing.  We will send 4 off Hole #1 and 4 off Hole #10 per each Tee Time.  If we use Tee Times, we will make sure they are posted UNDER COMMUNICATIONS on our Web Site before the event so you can show up at the proper time. WE DO NOT WANT GOLFERS STANDING AROUND AND NOT PRACTICING SOCIAL DISTANCEING.
  5. Members who ride will be required to each have a cart.  So far, the courses are willing to keep the Cart Fees (HALF A CART FEE PER GOLFER) the same per golfer.
  6. We will want ALL payments made by check, as the courses are not open for cash payments and we do not have the ability to do Credit Cards. If this is a problem, please contact us. (PLEASE HAVE THE CHECK MADE OUT BEFORE YOU COME)
  7. We will not be able to pay out weekly winnings, so will probably pay out at the end of the year in a lump sum.  This could change if the restrictions are loosened as the summer progresses.
  8. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY SKINS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
  9. This process is a work in progress so please be patient with us.

We hope this system will get started for an event on May 18 at The Meadows, so please check the Web Site to sign up and for any updates or changes we make.

I am ready to play some golf and to start renewing the friendships I have made being a member of the Red River Valley Senior Men’s Golf Association.
