We are now a week into July and our Golf Season continues along the same lines as we started with the exception that we have been able to do some Shotgun Starts at a couple of courses. I hope that we remember that we need to Social Distance ourselves at the Shotgun Start Events and that we do not cluster around in large groups. I believe Reino is still working on setting up events for a Full Shotgun (144 golfers) but only if the respective States/Courses allow it. Just make sure you monitor the Web Site, as that is where he will show any changes to the events. Again, I would like to commend Reino for all he has done to make this Golf Season run smoothly with few if any problems.
Last week we saw one of the Golf Courses had removed the fill from the cup, so we were back to normal pin placement. I think if any more courses do the same, we should remove the pin if requested by a golfer. Also, just because the putted ball hits the pin, that is not considered a made putt, unless all of you agree it would have dropped in if not for the stuff in the cup. If a ball hits the pin and then is ends up away from the hole, it should not be counted. Please make sure we follow that rule and if there is any question at all, I would say it did not go in. Also, make sure we putt ALL balls, NO GIVING OF PUTTS.
SCORECARDS: I have the pleasure of entering the scores into the computer system after each event. I sometimes have a tough time reading the numbers, so could you please make sure you spend some time on the cards to make sure they are filled out clearly and completely. This year if you are eligible to play from the Forward Tees (FT will be on the cards), there are two handicaps (Reg Hcp & FT Hcp) at the end of the row your name is in. If you play from the Forward Tees (FT), please cross out the Regular Handicap on the score cards, then complete the scorecards by subtracting the proper handicap from your actual score. This will certainly make my job easier and I will not have to call you to see what Tee each player played from.
This year we have 34 signed up for the Madden Golf Outing on August 11-12. Please consider signing up for that event next year as we have a great time and it is a good value for what we pay. When we arrive, we have a box lunch waiting for us prior to playing a round of golf, then that evening we have a sit-down meal in the restaurant, hand out winnings for the round and socialize. When we get up in the morning, we are treated to a Breakfast Buffet, then we play a round of golf and end up being served lunch before we head home. All of this for a mere $240 plus your cart rental. GREAT VALUE, GREAT TIME.
WINNING FUNDS: We are paying out winnings when a member accumulates $20 or more by writing out checks. We have been writing out checks on Sunday nights and then handing them out at the weekly events. If you are not scheduled to play the next week, we mail them out to you. If you have any questions about your winnings, please look under Communications on our Web Site as we put an UNPAID PAYMENTS LIST there.
CHECKS: It would really help us if you had your check made out before you get to the golf course. All checks should be made out to: Red River Golf. Also, it would be handy if you put your Player # on the check.
