APRIL is here, Golf Season is just around the corner. We moved it up some because of the weather conditions, hopefully the rain will stay away. We added 4 outings before the start of the Official Start of the Season. The events we added are the following: April 5(Village Green), April 7(Meadows), April 12(Maple River), and April 15(Hawley). These WILL be regular events so will be counted towards your required 5 events you must play to keep your membership.
There is a Course Rep Meeting on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 9:00am at the Fargo Frying Pan. It is just a good way to make sure we have all our ducks in a row at the events. If you are a Rep and will not be able to attend, send someone in your place that can relay any important information we share at the meeting.
Remember we are going back to our Regular Golf Season policies. We will be using Shogun Start at the events along with 2 person per cart. If you have any concerns about who you will be riding with, sign up with someone you are comfortable with and you can wear a mask if necessary. Hopefully, being we are the older generation, most of us will have received our vaccines by the time we start playing. We DO NOT require anyone to take the vaccine and will not be doing any checking to see if you had or had not. We are all adults, we leave that choice up to you.
REMINDER: THE GREEN FEE COST THAT GOLFERS PAY TO PLAY WILL BE INCREASED TO $15 PER ROUND. WE WILL BE PAYING THE SAME TO THE GOLF COURSES PER ROUND WHETHER IT IS A 9 HOLE OR 18 HOLE COURSE. SO NOW, WALKING WILL BE $15 AND RIDING WILL BE $15 PLUS COST OF CART. WE ARE NOT SURE WHY THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE FOR 9 HOLE COURSE VERSUS A 18 HOLE COURSE, BUT WE DECIDED IT SHOULD BE THE SAME.
We will go back to accepting cash or check, but no credit cards, as we will be collecting ALL FEES for the event. Please make that notation in your minds so we do not have any issues with collecting fees. We will also be paying back the winnings, in cash, at each event. The same rules will apply as before in collecting your winnings. If you do not collect your winnings within 30 days, they will be forfeited. If you know you are not going to pick up your winnings inside that timeline, have a friend pick them up for you.
Please check the rules as far as Cancelations/No Show. If you cancel AFTER the Sign-Up List is taken down, which includes even if you call the Reps, you will be charged $10. If you just do not show up for an event, you will be charged $15.
Time for a Golf Story.
When the Caddy Speaks
David Feherty does a stand-up show that is quite spectacular. It is all about his life in golf, the drinking and lots of stories about life on the tour.
Here is one of his stories. It was back in the 70s and a soon-to-be prominent golfer (Ray Floyd) was playing at Augusta for his first Masters. Back then the players could not bring their own caddies but had to use one of the locals. Floyd told the caddie master he wanted a big fellow who could handle his bag, but who also would keep quiet, no advice needed. The caddie who was assigned Floyd said, "Hello Mr. Floyd". Floyd said "Hello." And followed that with, "That's the last I want to hear from you."
Everything went well until the 10th hole when Floyd pushed his drive into the right trees on the par 4. After surveying the scene, he said out loud, "I'm going to hit a low fade out through that opening to carry and land mid green and then roll over the crest down near the hole." Surprisingly, he pulled it off exactly and turned to his caddy and said, "How's that?"
The caddie spoke for the first time and said, "That wasn't your ball."
You gotta love it!
If you have any questions, please feel free to call or send us an email.
See you soon.

UPDATE: I thought I had sent this out last week, but I guess old age is setting in and I forgot. We have now played one event yesterday at Village Green and hopefully tomorrow at the Meadows, although with the weather forecast, it does not look good.
A couple of observations from yesterday’s event. Please try to be to the Golf Course and be checked in by at least 15 minutes prior to Tee Time. The Course Reps are usually playing also, and it is not any fun to have to rush out because golfers coming late for check-in. Just try to be considerate so they can get their job done and get out to the course at a reasonable time.
SCORECARDS: Please make sure you mark your cards properly. If you play the Forward Tees, please make sure you cross out the Regular Tee Handicap and do just the opposite if you are playing from the Regular Tees.
I don’t have the time or energy to be calling and checking this out if the card isn’t marked properly.
David
