I guess I missed the August Letter so I will do the September Letter a couple days early. I can hardly believe we are almost into our last Full Month of the Golf Season. It has been a Dry Season as far as Rainouts, but it has not been a good growing season for the area.
I think we had a very successful Madden’s Trip this year. We had 38 golfers for the event. The first day there, we had 16 golfers play The Classic ($90 extra) and 22 golfers play Madden’s Pine Beach East Course. The next day all 38 of the golfers played Madden’s Pine Beach East Course. We are treated very well by the staff at Madden’s as well as receiving excellent food for the meals. We would like to increase the numbers of golfers that go each year and maybe get back to taking a bus up there. Please consider signing up for this event next year and remember those two rounds count towards the 5 events you are required to play in order to keep your membership. We also allow guests at this event, as 4 of the golfers this year were guests.
This is the time of the year when we have a huge push to get the dues paid for 2022 Golf Season. If you haven’t paid your dues for 2022, please try to get them into Reino as soon as you can. We would love to have them in by the last event. Also, if you haven’t played your required 5 events yet, please try to get that taken care of so we don’t have to cancel your membership. We have 13 events scheduled that can be used to accomplish that goal.
There have been some questions when it comes to the rules we follow when playing. We follow the PGA Rules to the best of our ability but have made some concessions to those rules. One is we allow you to “Fluff” the ball on the fairways and in the rough. You can move the ball with the head of your club but only a few inches not feet. Also, you CAN NOT move the ball from behind a tree, so you have a clear shot. If you want to move the ball from behind a tree, you can take a one stroke plenty for an unplayable lie. Also, a LOST BALL is just like a ball hit OB. If you hit a ball off the tee OB, you can play it from where it went OB and you will be hitting your 4th shot. If you go back to the tee box, you would be hitting 3. Please follow those rules, so if you play from where you lost the ball, please make sure you add the proper penalties. If you have questions, ask the golfers in your Foursome, as I am sure one of them will know what to do.
Our Season Scramble is coming up in about 3 weeks. Remember, we put together the foursomes according to total handicaps. ALL GOLFERS will be required to ride. This year we will not be having a meal afterwards, as it was just too expensive. Prize money will be sent out when we are able to finish computing the results. We can hand it out at our next event, or we will mail it out to everyone. You will not forfeit those winnings if not picked up by the end of the Golf Season.
We have had some questions on the fines we charge for Cancellations or a No Show. Once the signup sheet is taken down from the Website, if you cancel, you will have a $10 Cancel Fee. If you don’t call the Course Rep and not show up, you will have a $15 No Show Fee. After the Signup sheet is taken down, then the process to put together Foursomes and hole assignments starts. We get a lot of requests from members to play together so it is not just a matter of making Hole assignments, it is a process that takes some time to get it together. Then once that process is done, scorecards must be printed. So it takes some time to put this all together in order to be ready for Check-in the day of the event. This is not done as a money making process, it is done to have some control over the events. We certainly take into consideration the reason for your Cancellation and make a judgement if you will be charged or not be charged.
Well, continue to hit them straight, sink those putts and make sure you fill out the Scorecard properly.
David
