Fellow Golfers
Here we are, already two weeks into February and soon we will be weeks away from our first Tee Time. I am ready to be out on the Golf Courses as I am sure most of you are. I have had the pleasure of meeting for Breakfast or Lunch over the past couple of months with some of the officers/golfers and we have discussed the upcoming season. During our discussions, we have continued to try to improve our Association and hopefully we have. There is nothing that is changing the process of signing up for golf but just things we can do to make each event more efficient and fun.
WEB SITE: This is a reminder to use this under the Contact Us Tab to let us know of any changes in email, phone numbers, address changes or any questions that you might have, making sure you include your NAME and PLAYER NUMBER. We really need to have you update any of your information, so we can stay in touch with everyone to make sure things run smoothly.
HANDICAP: If you currently don’t have a Handicap but do have a USGA Handicap, please contact Dick Anderson and he will make sure you have a handicap, so you are eligible to win the Flight you are put in. If you don’t have a Handicap, you are not eligible to win any of the Flights until you have played 5 events, at which time you will establish your handicap.
FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AND BUDGET: The Financial Statements for2021 and the 2022 Budget are under the COMMUNICATION Tab. Please check it out and if you have questions, please contact us.
In the January Newsletter, I highlighted some of Rule changes for this next Golf Season.
Here are the major Rule Changes for next year.
All members must pay their next year dues prior to September 15. If paid after that date, dues will be $40 and if not paid by the last regularly scheduled event, which is posted on our schedule, members will automatically be dropped if dues are not received in time. Statements or reminders are not sent.
No medical exemptions will be granted after September 15 of a playing year.
A man who reaches the top of the waitlist at the end of a season and declines to join the tour when invited, will be dropped from the waitlist. To get back on the waitlist, he will have to reapply and pay another $10.00 fee and go to the end of the waitlist. If you are asked to join the active list after the beginning of the golf year and before the end of the golf year, and decline, you can stay in your position until the end of the golf year.
WE ALSO USE A SENIOR TOUR RULE CALLED ROLLING THE BALL:
(Rolling the ball with your club) apply to all areas of the Golf Course except hazards, sand traps, and on the Green.
Rolling the ball is limited to six inches and not allowed when you’re behind a tree or other obstacle that would otherwise have you take a drop or chip out. That means you can’t move the ball from behind a tree to improve your lie and if you do, you must take a penalty stroke.
Local course rules apply to all events. Ask the scorekeeper for any rulings.
We do not have mulligans or gimmies, so you must count all strokes and putt everything out. NO GIMMIES!!!
SCORE CARDS: It is each player’s responsibility to ensure that his name, player number, and score are properly recorded on the score cards. Our handicapper will throw out any card that is not readable. Don’t miss being a possible winner. If the scorekeeper does not turn in the card, he is leaving 4 or 5 guys without a score for the day. It is the responsibility of each player to verify his total score before the card is turned in. Once the card has been turned in scores cannot be changed. Keep your own card and check it against the official card at the end of the round.
A good habit is that one person keeps an Official Scorecard, another person keeps a second scorecard, so you can double check the scores and that the Official Scorecard is then filled out properly. It will make my job as Scorecard Processor to run smoother and I won’t have to make phone calls when I am in the process of entering the scores.
Looking forward to another Golf Season and playing some golf with this outstanding group.

President
