CHANGES-CHANGES-CHANGES
As stated in my email to all members on October 25, 2022 I have stepped done from my duties as Website, Handicap and Membership Managers effective January 1, 2023 (also trying to keep David and Reino in line). As I mention before I have been doing this and other positions for the last 19 years and while I have enjoyed working with all of you and also past members, it is time for me to cut back. I will be helping my successor behind the scenes to answer any questions he might have during 2023 as long as he needs me.
Dan Baumgarten #292, phone number 701-238-7073 and email taxman@far.midco.net will be my replacement. If you have any questions contact Dan, David or Reino.
As before when you click on contact us from the tab on our website and complete the information including your question, Dan will be getting that email and he will answer or forward the question to another officer or staff. Use this method to report changes in phone number, email address or other address changes and ask any other questions that is on your mind. Also, under members options, you will find contact information for all officers and staff.
MORE CHANGES
As prior Handicap Manager, I have not been happy with our old Handicap System. Especially when the USGA Implemented in 2020 their new Handicap system. We are now using an online Handicap and Tournament program.
If you click on communication on our web site and click on “Your Tour Index and How it is Developed” you will see how your index is calculated. Another change is that before you had to have played 5 events with us in order to get a handicap and now it is 3 events. (unless you had a previous USGA index).
As a byproduct for those of you that are in our Skins program, we get a print out of all players that are in the skins program, hole by hole including the winning skins for both gross and net scores. This printout will be posted under communication for each event followed by a posting that our skins manager will make showing who won the skins and the dollar amount won. This will be posted about the same time as the Event results are posted on our website. We are going to be allocating the skin dollars paid by the Reg Tee Players to the Reg Tee Players and the same to the FWD Tee Players.
As a result of our new Handicap System, we will be using actual Handicaps for each member by REG Tee and FWD Tee for the course on the day of the course event. We will Post Member Handicaps for that Event under communication soon after the Event is taken down from the Signup site on our website. Those Handicaps will also be available on the morning of the event.
That posting will show each member with their Handicap for that event playing the Reg Tee and FWD Tee. The FWD Tee Handicap can only be used if you qualify to play the FWD Tee, which now is age plus Index the result must be 89 or greater. (Before it was age plus handicap, the result must be 90 or more and our Index/handicaps were computed based on an average slope and rating of all of our courses). We will be updating our Index’s every other Friday or Saturday, and you can see that information under Member Options by clicking on “Index & Events Played”. We will still be posting under communications, “Index and Last 20 Scores”
Scorecards will be different, because of timing when the event is taken down from our website and the printing of the scorecards, Handicaps will not be on the scorecards. If you again go to communications and click on “FORWARD TEE OPTION INFO”, you will see how the scorecard will look and how to cross out the Tee option that each of you must do.
Under Members Options, we have added at the end “Golf Handicap Calculator”. With this you can type in the required information using the “Course Tee Matrix 2023” under communications, to get your Handicap for what ever course you want to play and also the tee box you want to play from on that course.
One thing I will warn you, your Handicaps will be different from what you have been used to because as I said they were computed based on an average slope and rating using all of our 25 or so courses we play compared to the new USGA system using a different formula as outlined above and the fact that we will be using actual Handicaps for the course that we are playing.
However, all players will be treated the same in each of the two tee boxes that we play from.
Having said all of that, you can blame me and not Dan for the changes.
Soon we will be posting under communications, 2022 Financial Statements and 2023 Budget.
2024 Membership Dues will be $35 and if paid after September 15, they will be $45. Dues for 2024 can be paid any time before the last scheduled event of 2023. The address to send your dues to is located under communications.
Happy Golfing
Dick Anderson
