Happy Easter to all of you. We have now entered the 1st Month of the 2023 Golf Season with our first scheduled event to be held on Monday, April 24th at Village Green Golf Course, with a 10am starting time. As of today, it looks like we will be lucky to play that event but here’s hoping.
Here is a List of Items you should make sure you check for this coming season.
The events could be closed for signup at 9AM this year on the 3rd day before the event. It could also be later especially if that is an event day. It used to be 9PM, but with a morning closure, it gives us more flexibility in setting up the event.
Also, make sure you check out what the event costs for walkers and riders. Most events have risen in cost for one reason or another. That way there are no surprises when you get to the table where you pay on the morning of the event.
Then the change to INDEX instead of Handicap. The USGA uses INDEX, which will be on the score card. At each event, we will have a List of Everyone’s Handicap according to the INDEX for that course. Since we will have to enter the score from every hole this year, you will not need to add them up. Your INDEX will determine what your handicap will be for determining the flights. By using the INDEX, everyone’s Handicap will be true for the course you are playing. You will probably have a different handicap at every course, depending on the course’s slope and rating. This applies to everyone, not just you.
We have the Tentative 2023 Schedule up on our Website. There still could be some changes to this schedule before the season starts. We do have some Open Dates yet too, which Reino may still be trying to fill. Reino will send out a notice when he opens the Sign-Up Book for the 1st few events.
Also, please think about signing up for the Madden’s Golf Outing scheduled for Wednesday, August 16, 2023, and Thursday, August 17, 2023. We play one round of golf on Wednesday shortly after arriving, spend the night and play one round of golf on Thursday before heading back home. We have a great time with 2 rounds of golf, lots of food, conversation and maybe a few drinks. I am not too sure what the cost will be for the Madden Trip, but I know it will be very reasonable as always. Again, PLEASE GIVE IT SOME CONSIDERATION.
