Here we are in April 2024 and the Golf Season is about to start. Some of the local courses have opened already, so I’m sure some of our avid golfers have already been out on the course. Last week 3 of us tried out one of the Indoor Golf Sites to limber ourselves up. Well, two of them did a pretty good job but I stunk up the place. I guess I better work on my game.
The New Schedule is posted on our Web Site. Reino has posted the first four events for the 2024 Golf Season. Please sign up if you are interested as soon as possible. There is a possibility that Reino will try to schedule something before the 22nd at one of the local courses. NEWS ALERT: Reino has set up an event for Thursday, April 18 at Hawley starting at 10am and has posted on our Signup Books on our Web Site. Reino will send out a notice to everyone if he is able to line something else up.
Here is a List of Items you should make sure you check for this coming season.
The events could be closed for signup at 9AM this year on the 3rd day before the event. It could also be later especially if that is an event day. It used to be 9PM, but with a morning closure, it gives us more flexibility in setting up the event.
Also, make sure you check out what the event costs for walkers and riders. Most events have risen in cost for one reason or another. That way there are no surprises when you get to the table where you pay on the morning of the event.
Then the change to INDEX instead of Handicap. The USGA uses INDEX, which will be on the score card. At each event, we will have a List of Everyone’s Handicap according to the INDEX for that course. Since we will have to enter the score from every hole this year, you will still need to add them up and make sure the scores are correct. Your INDEX will determine what your handicap will be for determining the flights. By using the INDEX, everyone’s Handicap will be true for the course you are playing. You will probably have a different handicap at every course, depending on the course’s slope and rating. This applies to everyone, not just you.
We use two (2) Web Sites because the new one does not allow for the Signup option that we have on our original Web Site. Please check with Dick Anderson or Reino Fleck if you are having any trouble getting each Web Site downloaded on your computer or phone, as they can help with that.
