October 2024

It is now October of 2024, and we have only one more event scheduled for the Golf Season.  Our last event will be on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Village Green Golf Course.  We have been blessed with some very wonderful weather this past month, other than the wind velocity we endured at Oxbow last Monday.

I think we had a very successful Golf Season and Reino is in the process of setting up a schedule for 2025.  I know we will lose some of the members we had this year and hopefully we will be able to fill all those slots.  We have several members on the Medical List for the year and they will be welcomed back as soon as there is an opening that we can put them in.  Hopefully, they will all heal well and be able to join us for the Golf Season.

We still had a few members who were not filling out the scorecards properly.  Please make sure the golfer who is recording the scores notes where all the golfers are playing from.  We will no longer call after a round if the scorecards are not marked properly and will be DNF for the round.  I think if the scorekeeper would mark the cards properly on the Tee Box at the first hole played, we would not have to worry about the scorecard.  Also, please make sure someone records the scores on the course scorecard, so you can compare the scores and the scores are recorded properly.  When recording the scores into the system, Dan does not have time to double check the scores, when the scores don’t match.  Please take your time.

This is a great group of golfers, and I hope we can continue to thrive over the next few years.  We need to work on playing Ready Golf and keeping up with the group in front of us.  Recently we played at Balmoral Golf Course with around 60 golfers, and it took over 5 hours to complete the round.  That is totally nuts.  This is not the PGA Tour, but we need to play at a steady pace.  I watched 4 golfers putting on the green and after every putt, they marked, and the next golfer putted.  They spent over 5 minutes finishing a hole because of the way they were playing.  Please use some common sense when it comes to putting it out.  We are not asking you to rush, we are just asking you not to mark every darn putt.

WINNINGS:   If you have winnings or skins, please stop by on Monday even if you are not playing to pick them up or have a friend pick them up for you.  Our normal policy is that we will send them out at the end of the year, but now that postage is higher, we would appreciate you having someone pick up your winnings.  We do not want anyone to lose the winnings or skins, so we will do whatever we have to, to get those to you, if it doesn’t cost too much.  We will not send out $1 in winnings and use 68 cent stamps to mail it.

Thank you all for another Great year on the courses.  I hope everyone has a wonderful winter and we will look forward to seeing you in the Spring of 2025.
